RegCheck - The New Vehicle History Report

RegCheck - The New Vehicle History Report
RegCheck.co.nz has just tightened the screws on New Zealand’s used‑car market, and honestly, it’s about time.
The refreshing new plate checking platform is cleaner, faster and purpose built for real‑world car (or bike!) buyers who want straight answers and good information — not a maze of car dealer jargon.
The new site and report layout is sharp and to the point. You get all the essentials upfront: ownership history, WOF status, rego status, odometer checks, PPSR finance flags, and any red‑flag notes. It’s colour‑coded, mobile‑friendly, and designed so you can make a call in seconds while online or even standing next to the car you’re thinking about buying.
Built by RedBook, NZ’s leading independent Automotive data experts, the history reports are enhanced with RedBook specification data for NZ new models. This detail can be very useful. Engine, transmission, trim, factory features, model‑specific specifications. It’s the easiest way to confirm whether the car you’re looking at is exactly what the seller says it is.
The good Kiwis at RegCheck donate a portion of every public report to KidsCan, I AM HOPE, Forest & Bird, SPCA or Brake the road safety charity.
In a market where trust is everything, RegCheck offers a new approach, and it is a welcome shift. Clearer reports, better data, and a platform that feels built for consumers. If you’re buying used in NZ, this is the check you should be running every time.

Is RegCheck information up to date?
RegCheck uses regularly refreshed live data feeds. In rare cases, any very recent changes (such as very new finance registrations or licensing updates) may not appear immediately.
Does RegCheck include accident history?
Where accident or damage indicators are recorded in official or trusted data sources, they will be identified. Not all damage events are reported in New Zealand databases.
Can RegCheck show odometer issues?
RegCheck includes recorded odometer readings from sources such as formal inspections and import records. The report highlights inconsistencies where detected, but no report can guarantee absolute accuracy of odometer readings.
Does RegCheck include a vehicle valuation?
For public enquiries, you can obtain a RedBook valuation certificate at redbook.co.nz.
For business users, market valuation data based on RedBook pricing intelligence is available as an optional additional report component, and also as a separate product. Where included, values are a guide price reflecting current market conditions. Valuations shown include GST.
How fast do I receive my RegCheck?
Once payment is completed, RegCheck reports are typically generated within seconds and made available shortly after.
Each vehicle history report is emailed to you, is downloadable online as a PDF and printable from the screen for your records.
Each report is timestamped so check that any report is up to date if you are receiving one from a seller to support your buying decision process.
How accurate is RegCheck information?
RegCheck combines:
- Official New Zealand government and industry databases
- Trusted third-party data providers
- RedBook's own extensive vehicle information and expertise
Vehicle data depends on timely reporting from multiple sources.
While we use best efforts to provide correct information, we can't guarantee the accuracy of the information. Check the RegCheck sites full terms and conditions. We recommend using the RegCheck vehicle history report alongside a physical vehicle inspection and you should seek independent advice where appropriate.
Why RegCheck and RedBook?
RedBook has been a trusted New Zealand name in vehicle information for decades. RegCheck combines official data, independent checks, and RedBook vehicle expertise into one simple report, helping New Zealanders buy and sell vehicles with confidence.
